Sadanandan of Aymananam, who bought the lottery ticket from a hawker on Sunday morning, said the money will be used to improve his children’s living situation.
KOTTAYAM: In the Christmas-New Year bumper lottery, a local painter won Rs 12 crore.
On Sunday morning, Sadanandan of Aymananam purchased a lottery ticket from a hawker, only hours before the lucky draw in Thiruvananthapuram.
“When I went to the local market to buy meat this morning, I bought the prize-winning ticket from Selvan (lottery vendor),” Sadandandan, a painting worker for the last 50 years, told reporters.
He stated that the money will be used to improve his children’s living situation.
The Christmas bumper ticket costs Rs 300. The second prize in the lottery was Rs 3 crore (divided among six tickets) and the third prize was Rs 60 lakh (awarded to six tickets).
According to local media sources, the lottery department first produced 24 lakh tickets. After the tickets sold out, a total of nine lakhs were printed, followed by 8.34 lakhs.
After Onam in September 2021, a Kerala car driver won a Rs 12 crore lottery jackpot.
